The Base Library’s collection consists of 30 Internet connected computers, WiFi access for personal laptops, 20,000 books (25% of these are children’s books); more than 4,000 DVDs (movies, fitness, documentary/nonfiction selections); over 1,250 music CDs; 1,250 audiobooks on CD, MP3, or Playaway; 250 CD-ROMs, and more than 150 periodical and/or newspaper subscriptions (visit weekly to read the latest Air Force Times). Bestsellers are provided via the McNaughton leased book subscription plan (over 650 titles) along with LandMark audiobooks-on-CD (50 titles); Young Adult lease plan (150 titles); and a paperback book plan (250 titles). These collections enable the library program to offer you access to the most current selections with new selections arriving monthly! The Children’s Library has easy books, juvenile fiction and nonfiction books, DVDs, audiobooks, and three children’s computers with CD-ROM applications for them to use at the library.

Set Sail for Voyage to Book Island!

BON Voyage! Set sail for a Voyage to Book Island!

All LRAFB children preschool through sixth grade, set sail for a summer "Voyage to Book Island!" at the Base Library. Registration for this year's summer reading program begins Monday, June 21st, and the program runs through Friday, July 30th. Kick off your summer by coming in to the Library and picking up your "Voyage to Book Island!" bag of goodies to get started. Your sponsor can fill out the registration card while you pick out books for your voyage to adventure. Prizes will be awarded along the way.

Plan your voyage by visiting the LRAFB Library's Kids page at http://lrafblibrary.sirsi.net. Click on KIDS in the left column. You can chart your course with award winning Caldecott and Newbery children's books. There is plenty of new uncharted titles to sail through as well. See you at the Base Library!

   
Holds
Materials can be placed on hold and you will be notified when it is returned. Movies and music CD’s cannot be placed on hold.

Call to renew
Materials can be renewed by telephone. Just call the Circulation desk at 987-6979 during normal operating hours. Renew on or before the due date.

InterLibrary Loan
Interlibrary loans can be requested at the Information/Circulation desk. These items are borrowed from other libraries and can usually be used for two weeks once they have been received. Interlibrary loans are limited to materials for education or mission support.

After hours/ material return
There is an indoor material return in the library’s entryway (on the left of the interior entrance doors) where items can be dropped off after regular duty hours. All formats can be returned without damage.

Tutor.com
Tutor.com is now available for all active duty military members, and their dependents. Tutor.com provides help for all ages K-12 students, college students and adult learners. Professional tutors are available to help with all math, science, social studies and English subjects-from elementary to advanced levels. TumbleBookLibrary
TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks, animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they’ll love. TumbleBooks are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sound, music, and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. Earn College Credits Now!
Study materials to prepare for DSST (DANTES) testing are available at the Base Library. You can earn college credit for what you have learned outside of the traditional classroom. Accepted or administered at over 1,900 colleges and universities nationwide and approved by the American Council on Education, the DSST program enables people to accomplish their educational and professional goals. Taking a DSST instead of attending a full semester of class gives you a head start on earning your degree - plus you can save on tuition costs.
